When Jason R. Pickholz left a partnership at a national law firm to form The Pickholz Law Offices LLC, his goal was to establish himself as SEC whistleblower lawyer New York City could be proud of.  Not long thereafter, Mr. Pickholz became one of the first lawyers in the country ever to win an SEC whistleblower award for a client. (See official SEC Award here.)  He is also the first whistleblower lawyer ever to convince the SEC to grant a client an SEC whistleblower award over an initial decision by its staff to deny an award.  This groundbreaking result was named as one of the “Five milestones in the Dodd-Frank whistleblower reward program“ by Inside Counsel Magazine.  For related articles click here (Boston Business Journal) and here (NY Times).

Since founding The Pickholz Law Offices, Mr. Pickholz has helped people in New York and throughout the country report frauds and securities violations to the SEC, including employees of companies listed in the Fortune Top 10, Top 20, Top 50, Top 100, and Top 500.

In addition, Mr. Pickholz wrote the chapter on the SEC whistleblower award program for the 2-volume Securities Crimes treatise published by West, a leading legal publisher, which he updates annually.  He has also chaired a program at the annual meeting of the American Bar Association where one of the speakers was the SEC’s Chief of the Office of the Whistleblower, taught a continuing legal education course for lawyers on the SEC whistleblower program, and was invited by a leading university to deliver a lecture on SEC whistleblowers and white collar crime.

In recognition of his achievements, in 2015 Mr. Pickholz was elected as a Fellow of The New York Bar Foundation.  Nominated by peers and elected by the Board of Directors, Fellows “represent one percent of the New York State Bar Association membership.  Being nominated and elected is a notable achievement,” explained the Chair of the Fellows.
